Renowned for its freshly prepared dishes and unbeatable poutine, Chip Pit has swiftly made a name for itself among locals and travelers alike. If you find yourself on the TransCanada, do not miss this culinary gem.

With an inviting atmosphere defined by its commitment to quality and service, Chip Pit prides itself on delivering made-to-order meals that promise to be steaming hot and bursting with flavor. Regular patrons rave about the fries, noting that even the smaller portions deliver incredible taste and texture. One customer, Zach Desjardins, highlighted it as “some of the best fries” he has encountered — a testament to the meticulous care that goes into each batch.

But the crown jewel here is undoubtedly the poutine. This beloved Canadian dish has been elevated to new heights at Chip Pit and has garnered a fervent following. As stated by long-time visitor LR, the poutine is “the best around.” Whether you choose to indulge lakeside as David Hubbard did, or take a moment to appreciate it on a journey, this dish stands as the perfect companion for any road trip.

The generous portions not only satisfy your cravings but also bring joy to your taste buds. Reviewers consistently praise the polite staff, who enhance the experience with friendly service.

Note, however, that the ambiance is primarily casual, with limited seating options. This prompted some suggestions for improvement, as mentioned by customer Trevor Stpierre. In summary, Chip Pit is a must-visit for anyone seeking a quick bite or a fulfilling meal. With outstanding fries, exceptional poutine, and a solid reputation for quality, it stands out in the bustling food truck scene. I can't say this is one of the best poutines I've ever had but, it was still decent, and cheap, about 8, if I remember correctly. The service was good and, if you're on a long journey along the TransCanada, like we were, this was far better than your standard roadside fast food fayre. Not only that, it's right by the lake, so we took our poutine down there and ate it lakeside. Can't ask for a better location.

As a member of the whitewater kayaking community, there has been a long standing tradition amongst us to stop by the Chip Pit after a tough day of paddling the Ottawa River. No idea how it began, but it’s pretty obvious why it lives on: This is probably the best spot for poutine outside Quebec. The fries are crispy, the gravy is tasty, and the cheese curds are gooey. Also, they layer all the ingredients so that no fry is left dry. What more could you want? I always end up getting the glutton size (see picture below), however I do not recommend ordering it if you’re alone because it’s quite a task to finish. I just love this place so much and I can’t recommend it enough. Pro tip: order a cajun poutine - it’s not on the menu but you’ll thank me later! ;)
